Coiling the ropes after the 30m rap in. Very steep in this section of the STS couloir. Approx 60 degrees here. A full 60m rappel would get you past this steeper area, onto easier slopes below.

STS couloir from the bottom of the Connaught Creek valley. Luckily, you pass beneath the couloir on your way to Mt Cheop's west ridge and can check out the conditions. Do not climb up the couloir! It is much easier to approach from the west ridge approach

Looking back towards the crux. Slope is 60 degrees through this narrow choke on the skier's right, against the rock wall. This can be downclimbed or rappelled using an anchor on the right wall.
